Bartender Glass 129 – The Last Leaf

Drinks of the Day:

  • 20 ml Whisky
  • 20 ml Benedictine
  • 20 ml Ginger Ale
  • Mix until no bubbles are left

Thoughts (Spoiler Alert):

This chapter is similar to the last in that Sasakura not only encouraged an old acquaintance, but also helped a new one.  Aside from that, nothing special really stood out to me.  The moral is quite straightforward (it was literally spelled out to us), and there’s not much to extrapolate there.  It’s a nice, chill story though.  No one really getting shocked, no shouting, etc.  Just a couple of guys talking and drinking.  The best part of this whole chapter is near the end though.  I loved it when Sasakura said a cheesy line as always, but this time, he gets called out for it.  Tsubasa’s expression was also priceless, a mixture of apathy and facepalming.  And next to him, Sasakura was smiling in satisfaction, pleased with how well he said that line.  I didn’t really notice this until I read it a couple of times.  A nice surprise for me.

Thanks a bunch for the chapter, and I looked at the Wikipedia article for O. Henry and there was a mention of prison guard who’s name was Orrin Henry, so thought I’d just mention that.
